Atelier Lazzaro – Italian excellence in Violin making – Padova, since 1987
“I hate the sandpaper and all its derivatives. Working the wood to `iron` - that gouge, chisel, scraper, knife and file - is a process much more difficult and time consuming but it allows you to get a fresh and clean cut otherwise unreachable. Add after varnishing a natural wood "cut" and not "sanded" with the details that remain strong and vivid, not mixed and blurred. Everything then, for the refraction of light in paint has a completely different impact and flavour".
There are feelings that you cannot define, no words are able to shine through the most intimate sense of things, but in this extract Maestro Lazzaro shows his impressive gift to translate into words his passion and depth worship in turn the matter into art, and art into sound.
Because making violins is not only a profession, it’s the constant attempt to try to get closest to “perfection”, like an infinite spiral. In this mean, the continuous reserch of Maestro Lazzaro has led him to create unique instruments: thanks of his open-minded interpretation of his work, he comes in touch with some of the most important international musicians on the scene, making custom-tailored instrument respecting the sensitivity and characteristics of them, trying to achieve the perfect sound.
As a natural consequence of his intimistic view, Maestro Lazzaro has a constant attention to carry on his heritage and diffuse his vision through his Atelier, located in the historical center of Padua, Italy. The rooms of this ancient Palace of the end of the '500 are theater of passing moments, where emotions change immediately, attracting continuously new talents, and where you can meet extraordinary personalities.
